Jiangbeizui

Jiangbeizui is the point on the north bank where the Jialing meets the Yangtze, facing Jiefangbei across the water. In the Eastern Han a new city called Beifu was built here and the governor of Ba commandery worked from it for a time; in the Ming a tea and salt inspection office stood on the point; in 1754 the Jiangbei hall was seated here. Ming Yuzhen, who declared himself emperor in 1362 under the name Daxia, lies in his Ruiling tomb nearby. The central business district was basically complete by 2018 and holds the Grand Theatre, the Science and Technology Museum and the central park.
