Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County.

Xiushan is the southernmost county-level division of Chongqing, in the middle Wuling where Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou meet. The county was carved out of Youyang's south-eastern edge in 1736, when the Qing replaced the local chiefdoms with direct administration, and it keeps the memory of four Ming chiefdoms in its records. It became a Tujia and Miao autonomous county in April 1983. Forest covers 49.2 per cent of it, the annual mean is 16 degrees, and the rain comes to 1,341.1 millimetres. Its flower lantern and its folk songs are both on the national intangible heritage lists, and its river town of Hong'an is claimed as the model for Shen Congwen's Border Town.
