Fengsheng: the town that names a range
Nine villages, a bridge, a street and an oil press, in a district where only 4.64 percent of the land is flat.
Fengsheng is a township-level division of Banan District, south of the Yangtze, and it gives its name to the Fengsheng range, one of the eleven hills and ranges the district counts inside its border, alongside Yunzhuan and Qiaoping. The old town is on the district's list of main sights. The town itself is small on paper: nine units, the Fengsheng community and the villages of Qiaoshang, Liping, Jie, Youfang, Shijia, Qiaowan, Shuangbei and Wangjia. The names are a short record of a market town, a bridge, a street, an oil press, two stelae. In the 2001 adjustment of the district's towns, Fengsheng kept its administrative area unchanged.
