Ciqikou

Ciqikou takes its name from the porcelain made along the Jialing in Ming and Qing times, and it is still a subdistrict of Shapingba District on the west bank of the river. It covers 1.18 square kilometres, with Mount Jingbi, Mount Fenghuang and Mount Ma'an inside it and two springs running through. The old town has twelve lanes, most of them laid with stone slabs and lined with shops in the Ming and Qing style. In the war years it kept room for the writers and painters who had come inland with the government, among them Guo Moruo, Xu Beihong, Feng Zikai, Fu Baoshi, Ba Jin and Bing Xin.
