Eling Park

Eling Park occupies the ridge of the narrow Yuzhong peninsula, the highest ground in the city, next to Fotuguan Park. It began as the Li Garden, also called Yi Garden, a private villa built in 1909 for Li Yaoting, first chairman of the Chongqing chamber of commerce, and was opened as a park after a large restoration in 1958. The Liangjiang Pavilion looks over the whole peninsula and both rivers. The garden keeps the southern Chinese manner, with tulip shows in spring and chrysanthemums in autumn; a Japanese-style garden was laid out for the sister city of Hiroshima. The Eling war-resistance sites are inside.
