Hanfeng Lake

Hanfeng Lake is an artificial lake at Fengle in Kaizhou, on the upper Pengxi, a tributary of the Three Gorges reservoir, fed by the Taoxi, the Dong and the Nan. Filling the reservoir produced a drawdown zone of 55 square kilometres in the district, and the lake was built to reduce its effect on the ecology. At the end of 2017 the water-level regulating dam began operating and holding water; the lake is now kept between 170 and 175 metres, stores 80 million cubic metres and covers 14.8 square kilometres at normal level, the largest urban artificial lake in inland western China. The district has been developing around it in recent years.
