Longshui Gorge

Longshui Gorge is the rift inside the Three Natural Bridges conservation area, named among its features in the same list as the Yangshui karst canyon, the two Shiyuan tiankengs, the caves and the hidden streams. Chinese usage pairs the two landforms: tiankeng, the collapse hollow you look down into, and difeng, the gap you descend into and walk along. The gorge is cut in the limestone that carries the district's World Heritage listing, and Chongqing's own geography names the Longshuixia Gap, together with the Three Natural Bridges, as what made this part of the municipality a tourist destination. The accounts of the park give no dimensions for the gorge itself; it is known through the bridges and the river that made it.
