Shuangjiang: nine streets on the south bank of the Fu
A Qing-era town on the Fu in Tongnan, listed in 2003 among China's first historical and cultural towns, with twenty surviving houses.
Shuangjiang sits on the south bank of the Fu river about ten kilometres north-west of Tongnan town and 168 kilometres from the Chongqing urban area. It is called double river for the two streams, the Hou and the Fu, that wind around it. The town was laid out in the early Qing, came under Tongnan county in 1912, and in 2003 was named among the first Chinese historical and cultural towns. More than twenty complete Qing dwellings and two provincial monuments survive, together with nine old streets that still hold their line.
