Zouma, a market town in the western hills
One of the eight Baxian towns folded into Jiulongpo in 1995, known for its folk tales and for a village listed among China's first Traditional Villages.
Zouma is a market town in the western hills of Jiulongpo District, across the Zhongliang Mountains from the main urban area. Its territory changed hands with the 1995 re-division of Chongqing, when Zouma was one of eight towns and one township taken from Baxian County and added to the district. The town appears on Jiulongpo's intangible cultural heritage roll for its folk tales, and Jiaoyuan village there was named in 2012 as one of the first group of Chinese Traditional Villages. East of the Zhongliang ridge the ground is low hills between 250 and 450 metres; west of it the land falls more gently.
