Taibai Rock is one of the names on Wanzhou's short tourism list, set with Tiansheng city and Duli mountain as places carrying deep cultural layers, and the name has spread far enough that one of the district's subdistricts is called Taibai. The town that shares the name was opened to foreign trade in 1902, had a customs house by 1917, was made a city in 1928 and, after the government moved to Chongqing in 1937, grew into a strategic depot and Sichuan's third city with 175,000 urban people. The Tiansheng city site, in the same list, is the district's national key cultural relic.
