Longgang: the limestone basin at the end of the county road
A basin in Yunyang's south-east corner, eighty kilometres from the county seat, rated a geopark and named for what it looks like from above.
Longgang lies in the south-east corner of Yunyang County, against the border with Lichuan in Hubei, with its core area 80 kilometres from the county seat. The county record rates it a national 5A scenic area and a national geological park and calls it the first basin under heaven; travellers added two names of their own, the last Shangri-La of the Three Gorges and, among climbers, Chongqing's small Hua Shan. The Changtan River drains the same limestone, with the Shisun River, Laoya Gorge and Huangling Gorge running tens of kilometres below the rim.
