Yiwulüshan: Forest above a Liao Landscape
Pine woodland and fragments of glazed roofing offer two ways to read a mountain associated with imperial memory.
Also called Lüshan, this mountain landscape belongs to Beizhen in the Jinzhou region. Chinese pine and broadleaf woodland cover slopes associated with mountain ritual and imperial commemoration. The dispersed Liao remains include burial complexes, elite cemeteries and the foundations of ceremonial buildings.
