Guanmenshan Forest

Guanmenshan lies in Benxi Manchu Autonomous County. Its name evokes a mountain gate, while the Tanghe and its valleys give the forest depth and direction. Autumn colour is a celebrated part of this landscape, but the woodland also has summer canopy, spring growth and the exposed structure of winter. A hillside’s changing colour reflects living trees and weather, not a date that can be guaranteed in advance.
