Heping Island

Heping Island lies about 75 metres off Keelung, connected by the Peace Bridge. The Basai called it tuman; the Spanish built Fort San Salvador here in 1626, and the island was later called Sheliao before taking its present name. Its north coast is a wave-cut platform of sandstone and mushroom rocks, now managed as a geopark and swimming area.
