Jue Mountain: Two Peaks Side by Side
Thirteen kilometres from Jincheng, two summits above the Dan River carry a name built from paired jade and a local sight described as the moon being released between them.
Mount Jue stands in Zezhou county, Jincheng, on the south bank of the Dan River, thirteen kilometres from the city centre. It is also written with a second character, read jiao, and old descriptions gave it a large reputation as the finest landscape of the Jin and Wei country. The mountain's name is attached to a moment rather than a building: Jue Mountain spits the moon, when the moon rises between the two summits, is counted among the four famous sights of Jincheng. The city is close enough that the climb is an afternoon, and the river below is the reason the peaks have any height at all.
