Faxing Temple stands on Cuiyun Mountain at Cuizhuang village in Cilin town, Changzi county, south-west of Changzhi. It was built first at Cilin Mountain close by; mining caused the ground to subside until the buildings were unsafe, and the group was moved to its present slope. The foundation is old: the temple began in the Later Liang of the Sixteen Kingdoms as Cilin Temple, was renamed Guangde Temple under the Tang, and took its present name in the Zhiping era of the Northern Song. It entered the third batch of national key cultural relics in 1988. In the courtyard the stone pagoda, 10.7 metres tall on a base 8.8 metres across, is a storeyed building with double eaves.
