Niangziguan

Niangziguan is a pass of the Great Wall at the foot of the Mian Mountains in north-east Pingding County, Yangquan, on one of the main routes between Shanxi and Hebei across the Taihang, 55 kilometres west of Shijiazhuang. Its old name was Weize Pass; the castle standing today was rebuilt in 1542 and keeps that form. It is called the Ninth Pass on the Great Wall, and it faces Jingxing Pass across the mountain, the two together holding the Jingxing mouth. The pass is divided into an upper and a lower gate, the eastern one carved with the name Niangziguan and the western one inscribed as where Princess Pingyang of the Tang stationed troops. Springs rise at the site.
