Pozi Street and the Fire Palace

Pozi Street (坡子街) is Changsha's best-known food street, running about a thousand metres east from Huangxing South Road to Xiangjiang Avenue in Tianxin District. A core street of the city since the Warring States period, it burned with the rest of Changsha in the 1938 Wenxi Fire and has been rebuilt twice since, most recently in imitation Ming-and-Qing architecture. The Fire Palace, the most famous of the city's old food houses, stands on it. After dark, and well past midnight, it is the centre of the city's night eating.

Eating after dark on Pozi Street

Pozi Street is a thousand-metre street of food in old Changsha. The street itself, the Fire Palace at its heart and what the cooking actually is make the city's night eating one long habit, alive from dusk to well past midnight.
