Yuelu Mountain

Yuelu Mountain (岳麓山) closes Changsha's western skyline across the Xiang River. An old record of the Southern Sacred Mountain calls it that range's foot, and the hill has carried the reputation: a Buddhist temple founded in AD 268, a Daoist palace from 1478, and the Confucian Yuelu Academy below its slopes. Nearly a thousand plant species grow on it, among them trees planted in Jin, Tang, Song and Ming times. Modern China buried many of its revolutionaries on this hill, and the mountain is now a 5A scenic area fused with the city's university district.
