Longzhong

Longzhong lies about 13 kilometres from Xiangyang and covers 209 square kilometres of fields and low hills around the place where Zhuge Liang, the statesman of the Three Kingdoms period, lived for more than ten years. It was there that Liu Bei met him and the story of the Three Visits took place. That episode left Chinese the idiom of visiting the thatched cottage three times. The site has been protected since 1956, when Hubei province listed it as the former residence of Zhuge Liang, and since 20 November 1996 it has been a national key cultural relic protection unit. Which field it really was is still argued: some say this one, others point to Wolonggang in Nanyang, Henan.
