Hedong District.

Hedong lies on the east bank of the Hai River, south-east of Hebei District, and its modern role in the municipal plan is gold and trade. It holds Dazhigu, the Yuan dynasty wharf where receiving offices and granaries were set up, and it shares Tianjin station with Hebei: the main building stands in Hebei, but the intercity north station house is in Chunhua Subdistrict of Hedong, and the district government runs the integrated administration of the station area. The older form of Tianjin speech spoken east of the river, called type B in the sources, covered the old Hedong quarter, Dazhigu and the Hebei area, and used more dental sounds than the speech west of the river.
