Tianjin Cultural Centre

The Tianjin Cultural Centre (天津文化中心) is the municipal administrative and cultural centre in Hexi District, occupying the whole area between Youyi Road, Longchang Road, Leyuan Road and Pingjiang Road, about 900,000 square metres in all. It holds the Tianjin Library, the Tianjin Museum, the Tianjin Art Gallery, the Tianjin Grand Theatre, the Tianjin Youth Activity Centre and a shopping complex. It was built in stages from 2011 and put into use in May 2012. The revised central urban plan brought the centre and its surroundings into the city's main centre alongside the Xiaobailou business district, and the new library was designed by the Pritzker laureate Riken Yamamoto.
