Xiwan Village

Xiwan is a village under Qikou town, in Linxian, Lüliang, in the Yellow River country of western Shanxi. Its administrative frame is short and precise: village, town, county, prefecture, and every listing it holds is granted through that chain. Qikou governs a community and several dozen villages, Xiwan among them, and two of those villages, Xiwan and Lijia Shan, are counted as traditional villages. On 8 October 2003 Xiwan was announced in the first batch of Chinese historical and cultural villages; on 17 December 2012 it entered the first batch of Chinese traditional villages. It also appears among the seven places where the dwellings of the Qikou ancient building complex are preserved, a group listed nationally in 2006.
