Between the river and the lake
Lushan is granite, not the limestone of other Jiangxi peaks, and it stands exactly where two of China's great waters meet.
Jiujiang stands on the south bank of the Yangtze at the mouth of Poyang Lake, where the province meets Hubei, Hunan and Anhui. The river, the lake and the mountain are all visible from the same city: Poyang Lake opens east of it and Lushan rises in the middle. The story of Jiujiang is a story about what sits between two waters.
