Liukeng Village

Liukeng lies in Le'an county, surrounded by hills, with the Niutian River running past it from the south-east towards the north-west. Xu Xiake, who travelled through in the seventeenth century, wrote that the place was crisscrossed with market streets, a town of ten thousand households, where the Dong clan was the great family and had the Wugui Fang, the archway of the Five Cassias. The village today has 1,280 households and about 5,600 people, and keeps nineteen Ming buildings and more than two hundred and fifty Qing ones.
