Huizhou villages inside Jiangxi
Wuyuan belongs to Jiangxi and to the Huizhou culture at once, and saying which is which is the first job of a reader.
Wuyuan was one of the six counties of the old Huizhou prefecture and is named as one of the birthplaces of Huizhou culture. It lies in a hill country at the junction of Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Anhui, so the village architecture here is the white-walled, black-tiled Huizhou type rather than anything else, and the buildings in the county listings, the Rainbow Bridge at Qinghua, Liken, Jiangwan, Wangkou and Yan, follow that tradition. In Jiangxi it is a cultural neighbour, and saying so is more accurate than treating it as generic Jiangxi.
