Bailuzhou Academy

The academy stands at Jizhou on the Gan River, in the city that was for centuries the seat of Ji prefecture, on ground now covered by the Bailuzhou Academy district. It was founded as Luzhou Academy in the Southern Song and became known for its scholars. In the Baoyou fourth year, 1256, Wen Tianxiang entered the academy to read, and in the same year he was selected as the provincial scholar of Jizhou.

A multi-storey timber building stands above a broad stone stair, with trees around it.
