In Xiuwu County above Jiaozuo, a valley of red quartz sandstone carries walking paths and water, and the whole range is catalogued as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Yuntai Mountain stands in Xiuwu County inside Jiaozuo. The Jiaozuo municipal government records the scenic area as covering 240 square kilometres and lists eleven named spots within it, including Hongshixia Valley, Tanpuxia, Zhuyufeng, Quanpuxia, Qinglongxia, Fenglinxia, Zifang Lake, Diecaidong, Mihougu, Baijiayan and Wanshansi, and classifies it as a global geopark, a national AAAAA scenic area and a national scenic and historic interest area. UNESCO's own geopark page places it on the southern piedmont of the Taihang Mountains in northern Jiaozuo City, designated in 2015 with an area of 55,600 hectares and a recorded population of 7,078. The same page notes that the name 'Yuntaishan' first appears in a stone tablet inscription from the reign of the Kangxi Emperor.
