A Tunnel Cut Through the Nest at Xixia
The dinosaur park near Xixia shows fossil eggs twice: in cases, and inside a gallery cut through the ground they were buried in.
In Dan Shui town in Xixia county, a park built around eggs gives visitors two very different ways of meeting them. One is a specimen hall, holding a large collection of fossil eggs in cases; the other is a gallery cut as an excavated tunnel, so the original arrangement of the eggs can be read from inside the ground rather than through glass. The site sits at the core of the Nanyang dinosaur egg nature reserve and of the Funiu Mountains world geopark, in a county where the mountains run down to the Henan–Hubei–Shaanxi border.
