A broad meadow at high elevation

Sangke Grassland lies in Sangke Township, Xiahe County. Gannan’s official scenic-area listing describes it as meadow grassland in Dajiutan, averaging above 3,000 metres and covering about 70 square kilometres. Mountains surround the pasture, making its open central ground legible against the higher edges. The listing identifies herding as a longstanding use of the grassland and notes that tourism tents have operated there since 1987. These details place visitor activity alongside the working pastoral landscape.

The Daxia River through the meadow

The Daxia River flows through Sangke and links the meadow to Xiahe’s wider geography. The pasture, river corridor and surrounding mountains form a connected township landscape of grazing land and settlement. The government account gives the grassland an area of roughly seventy square kilometres, a scale that includes a broad range of ground and pastoral use.

Close to Xiahe’s county centre

Sangke belongs closely to Xiahe’s wider landscape. The grassland lies southwest of the county seat, while the Daxia River links the pasture with Labrang and nearby settlement. Its broad meadow, river corridor and grazing areas form a continuous rural setting around the county’s principal town and monastery.
