Dongzhi Yuan covers about 960 square kilometres in Qingyang, with an average elevation of 1,421 metres. The 2025 protection ordinance defines the tableland around Xifeng and includes areas in Qingcheng, Heshui and Ning counties. Nanzuo archaeological remains and Qingyang sachet embroidery are among the cultural heritage associated with this landscape.
On Dongzhi Yuan, Qingyang’s broad loess tableland, a small festival sachet carries a varied local embroidery tradition. Its forms and stitches are recorded in China’s national intangible-heritage catalogue.
