Zhagana: Four hamlets and a living mountain landscape
In Diebu County, Zhagana’s villages occupy a high mountain basin enclosed by steep rock. Farming, herding and forest use follow the slopes from valley floor to woodland.
Zhagana lies in Diebu County, Gannan. The four hamlets—Dari, Daiba, Yeri and Dongwa—sit within a high mountain basin alongside Lasang Monastery. FAO designated the Zhagana Agriculture-Forestry-Animal Husbandry Composite System as a GIAHS in 2017, recognizing knowledge for using land, forest, grassland and species resources.
