Jinchang.

Jinchang sits in the middle of the Hexi Corridor. Its own 2023 profile says the city was established because of a mine and the enterprise that worked it: the city dates from 1981, and its name takes one character from Jinchuan District and one from Yongchang County. The profile dates a large arrival of builders to 1958 and calls the place China's nickel capital because of the metal. The open pit on the north slope of the Longshou range is the visible start of that story. Older towns and walls in Yongchang are a different map.
