Stone pillars at the Yellow River bend
At Longwan in Jingtai County, the Yellow River curves through a canyon of sandy-conglomerate pillars. The river, farms and cliffs occupy the same broad view.
The Yellow River Stone Forest is in Jingtai County, in the southeast of that county, where the river enters, bends north at Longwan and cuts a deep canyon. The municipal culture bureau lists it apart from the wetlands of Baiyin District and apart from the city's mine park. Jingtai media describe yellow-brown sandy conglomerate, carved by crustal movement, weather and rain, standing beside an omega-shaped bend. The municipal profile calls the site a 4A scenic area and a national geopark.
