Longfeng Wetland sits within Daqing’s urban area, where the protected landscape meets drainage channels and built land. A 2022 brochure describes the reserve as a wetland in the city; a later project report shows how that relationship requires work on the water arriving at its edge.

Longfeng Wetland: rebuilding the water edge of Daqing
A 2024 restoration project along Daqing’s East No. 2 drainage channel combined a water-purification wetland, ecological banks and habitat work at Beiershili Pao.

A 2024 engineering snapshot
In November 2024, Heilongjiang Daily reported that the East No. 2 drainage-channel restoration project was 65 percent complete. Its plan included a 300,000-square-metre treatment wetland designed for 60,000 cubic metres per day, 9 kilometres of ecological bank, 300,000 square metres of land and variable-waterline restoration at Beiershili Pao, and 400,000 square metres of aquatic restoration. The report projected completion for June 2025.
Cleaning water before it reaches the marsh
The treatment wetland combines an ecological stabilization pond with vertical-flow and surface-flow wetlands. The reported aim was to improve rainwater purification and water quality downstream before water entered Longfeng Wetland and Beiershili Pao. The project’s story lies in the sequence: treating channel water, stabilizing its banks and restoring wetland edge habitat as connected parts of urban conservation.
