Heixiazi Island: A Boardwalk Through Wetland
Fuyuan’s wetland park on Heixiazi Island uses wooden boardwalks to carry visitors through a landscape shaped by rivers, marsh and an international boundary.
Heixiazi Island lies where the Heilongjiang and Ussuri meet. Fuyuan’s official description places the island at roughly 48°17′–48°27′ north and 134°24′–135°05′ east, with 171 square kilometres under Chinese administration. Its waterways and banks form a natural landscape as well as an international boundary.
