Jingpo Lake: where lava blocked a river
A volcanic field, a river dammed by lava and a lake’s fishing traditions form three distinct layers of the Jingpo landscape.
Jingpo Lake formed when lava obstructed the Mudanjiang River and altered the path of water. Its volcanic basin is also part of regional life: local fishing supplies foods associated with the lake, connecting geological history with livelihoods and cuisine.
