Harbin’s New Synagogue: restored and renamed a memorial museum
Completed in 1921, Harbin’s New Synagogue was repaired in 2004 and formally named the Harbin Jewish History and Culture Memorial Museum in 2017.
Harbin’s New Synagogue stands at the corner of Jingwei Street and Jingwei Fifth Street in Daoli. Its separate location distinguishes it from the Main Synagogue and Jewish school on Tongjiang Street. These buildings form different parts of the city’s protected Jewish heritage landscape.
