In Maolangou National Forest Park, water threads through the wooded ravine before dropping over rock ledges. The stream and surrounding slopes form a connected landscape: exposed stone gives the water its changing course, while trees enclose much of the route. A summer account from Jiayin County follows visitors through this combination of forest, springs and falls.

Maolangou: A Canyon of Water, Rock and Forest
Maolangou’s appeal lies in the close sequence of ravine, stream, waterfall and forested slope. The canyon is a compact way to encounter the varied terrain of the northern Xiaoxing’anling, where water has cut through rock and shaped a protected landscape.

Black Dragon Pool and the water-curtain recess
One named feature is Heilongtan, Black Dragon Pool, with its waterfall and a small water-curtain recess below. Elsewhere, the county report identifies Golden Waterfall and a spring outlet among the places visitors notice. These names bring the ravine into focus at several different points: a pool beneath falling water, a recess behind its curtain and a spring emerging along the route.
The scale of a ravine walk
Boardwalks make selected parts of the wooded watercourse accessible. The view changes as the path approaches a fall or moves back beneath the canopy. Rather than one distant panorama, Maolangou offers a succession of close encounters with rock and flowing water within Jiayin's forest country.
