An old house with its beams in view

A 2026 report places the Yellow House cafe in a century-old Russian-style house on Garden Street. Inside, exposed timber beams, weathered walls and warm pendant lights keep the building’s age visible. The cafe’s courtyard gives the visit a different texture: a blue-and-white fountain sits among hydrangeas and daisies, while lace curtains and an iron swing shape a small garden scene around the old house.

A new use fitted around the old fabric

Cafe manager Zang Liwei told the report that the team avoided major demolition and instead protected the building’s original appearance while adding a new business and setting. The courtyard and vintage interior furnishings make the place distinctive, but the exposed beams and weathered wall remain in view. Visitors come for coffee and the garden; the building’s preserved surface stays part of what they see.
