At Ang’angxi, a Museum Built Around an Ancient Shoreline

The Ang’angxi Site Museum stands beside a landscape known for prehistoric fishing and hunting; its collections and the nearby Tengjiagang site tell related but distinct archaeological stories.

Fishing-and-hunting life along the Nen

The Ang’angxi Site Museum introduces a roughly 7,000-year-old Neolithic fishing-and-hunting culture along the Nen River. Built around the nationally protected Tengjiagang site, it holds more than 3,000 objects, including 27 designated as precious in a 2023 Ministry of Culture and Tourism profile. The collection connects a long human history with the river country in which people found food, made tools and established settlements.

A district with several historical layers

Tengjiagang is one part of a district whose public history reaches across very different periods. The same cultural route includes Rosia Street, the old station settlement at Toushan and Yamen Village. A visitor can move from prehistoric objects to the buildings of a railway town, encountering successive ways people lived and travelled through this part of the Nen River region.
