Wuqiao County

Wuqiao County lies in the south of Cangzhou, on low ground that the Grand Canal and its branches crossed. Its acrobatic tradition is the county's best-known export: performers trained here travelled with fairs and touring troupes from the Qing onward, and the county now has an acrobatics school and a museum. The repertoire includes rope walking, plate spinning, contortion and balancing acts that were once performed in village squares.
