The regional culture department describes Kazanqi as an old street on the south side of Yining, kept close to existing houses and presented as a place to meet Ili at street scale. It is not a reserve and not a pass. People are expected to stop, ask and taste. That instruction already distinguishes it from a viewpoint.

A street that still cooks
Kazanqi in Yining is an old neighbourhood street for naan, dairy and small making, not a mountain view.

Bread, milk and soap
The same notice names naan-making, dairy, soap, embroidery, leather and gourd carving among the things shown. Naan is the useful food to start with: a round bread baked against the wall of a tonur oven, eaten across the region and visible here as a craft rather than as a picture on a menu. Dairy belongs to the pasture economy of Ili in a way a single bakery does not. Neither item is given a recipe.
The city under the fruit forest
Yining is the city of the valley. Almale's wild apples and Kalajun's meadows are upslope and in other counties. Kazanqi is where that regional life has a pavement. A visitor who only collects lakes will miss it. A visitor who treats the street as ancient in every brick will also miss it: the culture department's point is that old houses and present shops are both there.
