Jilin’s 2025 report identifies Chagan Lake Fisheries Co., formerly the Chagan Lake fishery, as the main unit responsible for capture and sales. Manager Zhu Fenglin describes 458,000 mu of effective natural fishing water and average annual storage of 700 million cubic metres; several hatcheries are located around the lake.

Stocking follows several stages of fish growth
A Jilin report on 2025 production lists 780,000 jin of juvenile fish for stocking, six million spring-and-autumn fingerlings, 29.68 million summer fry and 1.5 billion eggs of a fish the report calls dayinyu (大银鱼). The figures refer to different species and life stages: stocking fish by weight, other young fish and fry by count, and eggs separately. The operator says releases center on bighead carp, carp and crucian carp; releases of predatory fish, including fish it calls dabaiyu (大白鱼) and mandarin fish, are adjusted to the number of small wild fish.
Two fishing seasons use different harvest methods
The same 2026 report records 2025 harvests of 2.79 million jin in open water and 3.19 million jin in winter. It describes different arrangements by season: small nets, larger-mesh nets and outer-net operations in open water, and separately planned net types and frequencies for winter. These are reported harvest totals; they are distinct from the hatchery and release counts above.
Water monitoring and protected zones guide daily use
A 2022 report describes water connectivity from the Songhua through Chagan Lake toward the Nenjiang. It reports monthly water-quality monitoring at the lake’s inlet, center and outlet, and floating markers identifying core, buffer and experimental zones.
