Momoge National Nature Reserve

Momoge is an important stopover in the Siberian Crane’s migration through the western Songnen Plain. A 2024 report describes the cranes feeding on aquatic-plant rhizomes in the reserve. Reports from 2024 and 2026 also describe reconnecting waterways, restoring land disturbed by former well sites and involving local residents and volunteers in patrols and bird monitoring. These dated accounts bring conservation into view through particular tasks, from following water routes to watching birds.
