Rebuilding Fengman Beside the Old Dam
Fengman’s rebuild placed a new dam downstream while the older structure still held the reservoir. A controlled opening in May 2019 began the transfer between them.
Fengman is a hydropower station and dam complex in Fengman District, distinct from the broader reservoir it created. A rebuilding project approved in 2012 placed a new dam roughly 120 metres downstream. A controlled opening through a retaining sill in May 2019 began the transfer of water between the structures; the hub works received special acceptance in 2021. The two dams reveal how a working reservoir was carried through a major engineering transition.
