Jilin Meteorite Museum

The museum was established in 1990 and operates alongside the Jilin City Museum. Jilin No. 1 weighs 1,770 kilograms as a single stone; that number describes the one large meteorite, not the recovered mass of the entire shower. The local museum profile places the museum in Fengman District, while the research story follows the scientific work carried out on fragments and samples rather than repeating a general museum introduction.

Reading Jilin’s Meteorite Through Its Isotopes

An impact pit, laboratory samples and a great museum specimen offer different ways to read the Jilin meteorite fall. Isotope measurements reveal why the position of a small sample matters.
