Caozhou Peony Garden

Caozhou Peony Garden was laid out in 1982 on 1,200 mu of ground. It is described as the largest peony garden in the world, and as the largest of the peony gardens in Heze and the one with the most varieties. It stands in the city that was called Caozhou until 1735, when the Yongzheng reign raised Caozhou to a prefecture, and its name keeps that older word. The garden is where the city's peony fair is held each year when the flowers open, and the flowers do not wait: a single bloom lasts seven to ten days. The city names the garden first among its places of interest.
