Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster

Tianluokeng’s one square, three round and one oval building create a celebrated overview. At ground level, differences of elevation and the surrounding cultivated landscape complicate that neat image. The cluster offers a way to understand tulou through settlement choices: where large communal structures could stand, how they related to one another, and what land around them remained essential.
