Hekeng Tulou Cluster

Hekeng is best read as a settlement. Its World Heritage component selects thirteen buildings from a larger village, where streams, bridges and paths connect varied architectural forms. Looking between the structures reveals a geography of crossing and adjacency that individual façade photographs miss. The village gives the iconic image of a circular tulou a broader, more varied context.
